Basic Knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems (HV/LV) (H-BASIC)

This course offers an in-depth technical introduction to the key components and principles of electrical power systems (high and low voltage). Topics covered include:

• Electrical Safety Provisions - The training provides an overview of various safety devices such as fuses, (different types of) switches, and relays, and how these are applied to ensure personal safety and operational continuity. Selectivity and coordination between these provisions are also discussed.
• Electrical Network Structures - The construction and characteristics of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage networks are discussed, including the treatment of the neutral point, redundant power supply concepts, and the n-1 principle. This provides insight into the design and operation of modern electricity distribution systems.
• Transformers, Generators, and Motors - The operation, testing, and protection of these crucial electrical machines are extensively covered. Additionally, the requirements for parallel operation of generators and transformers are addressed.
