SIPROTEC 4/5 Network Disturbances and analyses. (H-BST)

  • This in principle 2-day long course is meant to learn methods to be able to analyse network faults when a SIPROTEC device has registered them.

The main purpose of the training is to teach all users of SIEMENS SIPROTEC protection devices to be able to read out and interpret the network faults that have occurred if a SIPROTEC protection system has detected a network fault using the recorded data in the digital relay.

Day 1: This is done in several steps, so that the first line recognition can be done by technical employees such as Mechanics or other employees working directly with the data from the LEDs and the data present in the display of the protection. But also, by being able to manually extract the relevant data from the last fault from the relay in a second step.

Day 2: In addition, the additional data that may be present in the relay via a PC is discussed to be able to make a specialized analysis.

Type Face-to-face training
Duration 2 days
Language nl

Target Group

  • All persons who are involved in the operation of electrical installations and who want to have more knowledge of the method of recognizing grid failures within digital protection systems and who want to be able to read and analyse them. Engineers, commissioning engineers and maintenance technicians.

Content

  • Day 1:

    • The moment of a grid failure that occurs.”Murphy’s Law”.
    • The difference between SIPROTEC to 4 and SIPROTEC 5.
    • Step 1, the first indication of a network fault on the siprotec protection itself.
    • 12 exaples with an overview of the results obtained.
    • Step 2, manually remove faults from a SIPROTEC protection system.
    • Resetting the relay after it registers a fault. Lockout.
    • The operational notifications of a protection, SIPROTEC 3 till SIPROTEC 5.
    • 10 examples with an overview of the results obtained.

    Day 2:

    • Step 3, retrieving all information from the SIPROTEC via the PC.
    • The standard structure of a SIPROTEC 4 and SIPROTEC 5 protection to be able get the information of the settings in use.
    • How to contact a SIPROTEC 4 or a SIPROTEC 5 protection to retrieve all data for an analyses.
    • The CT and VT-connections of a SIPROTEC 4 and SIPROTEC 5.
    • Explanation by means of two examples of the analyses program SIGRA.
    • How to analyse SIPROTEC 4 protection and SIPROTEC 5 protection with two examples of analyses. Motorbay/ Motor HS/ 7UT612/ 7SJ82.
    • Step 4, Advanced Transplay by OMICRON use. Optimalisation of settings and testing.

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of Energy Technology or affinity with it. To follow Day 2, you must also have followed Day 1 of this course.

Note

    1. This training has a large focus on demonstration. As far as possible the necessary theoretical knowledge is shown by demonstrating using an OMICRON in combination with SIPROTEC 4 and 5 models, to be able to get knowledgeable because of own actions performed.
    2. In general, for day 2, in a groups of 2 persons the course will be followed, each group will have use of a training PC with the DIGSI 5 software installed and a model of a SIPROTEC 5 device. To be able to test an OMICRON testing unit will be available.
    3. For day 2 also, during the training you are always allowed to use your own PC’s and testing units if the correct software versions are installed beforehand.
    4. From 4 persons this training can be planned. For more information and special wishes please contact the Power Academy.
