ANSI 87 Transformer Differential Protection in SIPROTEC 5 (H-SIP5TB)

  • In this 1-day course, you will learn how to use DIGSI 5 to implement transformer differential protection as a protection function for transformers for the SIPROTEC 5 protections. This course focuses on the protection function itself, the settings that can be made and their meanings. It also covers how to practically test this function with an OMICRON testkit and how to handle the online display of the measurements.

Type Face-to-face training
Duration 1 day
Language nl

Target Group

  • This course is intended for individuals involved in the engineering process, determining settings, programming, and reading transformer differential protections of the SIPROTEC 5 series. Engineers, commissioning personnel, and maintenance technicians.

Content

    • Theory of Transformer Differential Protection:
    • The general principle.
    • Stabilization, restraint, or bias of transformer differential (SIP 4 vs. SIP 5).
    • Inrush phenomenon 2nd HH with CWA method.
    • Overexcitation and saturation.
    • Differential and stabilization characteristics.
    • Introduction to transformer settings.
    • Stationary differential current.
    • No-load current.
    • Measurement deviations.
    • Idiff> standard.
    • Voltage regulation of the transformer.
    • Idiff fast or Idiff setting.
    • Idiff Unrestrained setting.
    • 2nd HH or CWA setting.
    • 3rd HH and 5th HH settings.
    • Stabilization against saturation during through currents.
    • SIPROTEC 5 measurement points and sides of a transformer.
    • Setting data in SIPROTEC 5.
    • Hardware.
    • LEDs.
    • CT/VT connections.
    • Function group connections.
    • Power system data.
    • Side 1 and Side 2.
    • Transformer differential protection.
    • Testing.
    • Examples, applications, tips.

Prerequisites

  • Basic knowledge of the different types of protections as covered in the H-BM or H-BI course. Knowledge of SIPROTEC 5 and DIGSI 5 as covered in the SIPROTEC 5 Basic Course with DIGSI 5.

Note

  • 1. This course is based on the specific transformer differential protection within SIPROTEC 5 and contains a lot of theory. Therefore, it is more about following along rather than actively participating on your own or a training PC.

    2. If you also want to actively program, we can add a separate practical day where you can work with a transformer differential protection and a training PC or your own PC, provided the correct software is installed.

3.For testing the transformer differential protection, the existing advanced OMICRON course is recommended.

4.This course can be scheduled for groups of 4 or more people. For more information or special requests, please contact the Power Academy.
