H-OMIGEVE OMICRON Secundary Advanced course (H-OMIGEV)

  • This course is intended for individuals who want to prepare automated tests for transformer differential protections and distance protections, which can then be performed by themselves or others. These individuals want to be able to convert protection settings into well-functioning and reliable test files.

    If the participants are from the same company, other in-depth topics such as xRIO connections can also be covered. This can always be indicated in advance when requesting the course.

Objectives

  • After this 2-day long course the participant knows:
    • How to perform extensive automatic tests using a CMC OMICRON testing unit.
    • How to design and built complete OCC-files for testing the distance protection and the transformer differential protection.

    After the training the participant can:
    • Test and commission a protection device.
    • Perform time dependent maintenance tests for digital protections using an OMICRON testing unit.
    • Built automatic tests and perform them using OCC-files.
    • Built a protection testing template, using xRIO. Using this protections of the same type but with different settings can be tested more easily using the same testing file simple and fast.

    During the course testing will be performed using distance protection and transformer differential protection from the SIPROTEC 4 of 5 range.
    This is the advanced course that handles the most important advanced testing modules available within TestUniverse.

Target Group

  • This course is meant for all persons that need to be able to perform tests on digital distance and transformer differential protection relays using a CMC testing unit from Omicron with the program TestUniverse. Engineers, commissioning engineers and maintenance technicians.

Content

    • Building an OCC-file from the standard template.
    • The theory of the distance protection.
    • Setting up and testing using a current and voltage hardware.
    • The distance RIO file.
    • The QuickCMC as prime hardware test.
    • The use of the OMICRON advanced distance module for 3 different types of testing.
    • The theory of the transformer differential protection.
    • Setting up and testing using 6 currents in the hardware.
    • The transformer differential RIO file.
    • The use of all advanced differential modules for testing.
    • The (non) possibilities of the HH-modules.
    • The advanced transplay module.
    • Coupling to xRIO and their possibilities.

Prerequisites

  • From the participant it is expected to have more advanced knowledge of digital protections and that the basic OMICRON training has been done.

Note

  • Participants must bring their own Omicron. If this is not possible, it must be indicated well in advance due to the availability of Omicrons. Participants can bring their own PC with installed Omicron TU 1 software. If this is not possible, the participant must indicate this in advance so that a Siemens PC with pre-installed software can be provided. However, the participant must bring their own Omicron TU installation CD or an Omicron license file for communication with the test kits.
    The Omicron license file can be found on your PC in the Omicron folder with the filename omicron.lic.
