Objectives

  • The course is intended for all application domains and for participants without specific knowledge of SIMATIC S7, who need to solve simple tasks with SIMATIC S7 devices.
  • This module can be completed with the adapted practical ST-S7PRAC1.

  • Overview of the SIMATIC S7 family
  • Features of the automation system and the programming device
  • Installation and overview of the STEP7 software
  • Program structure and processing, overview of blocks, STEP7 addressing
  • Structuring, setting up, documenting and commissioning simple programs with STEP7
  • Basic knowledge of logical functions, timers, counters and comparison functions, conversion functions, mathematical functions and word operations
  • Absolute and symbolic addressing
  • Storing data in data blocks
  • Interpretation of system information from the PLC
  • STEP7 tools for program testing and diagnosis

Prerequisites

  • PC/Windows knowledge and basic knowledge of automation

Note

  • All topics are clarified using exercises with a programming device and a PLC in connection with a conveyor belt as a practice model.
  • Hardware used: S7-300 / S7-400
  • Software used: Step 7 V5.x classic
